Section B: The United States

The United States: Vignettes for New York and New Jersey, New Orleans, LA

In this section, we will examine case studies in the U.S. of communities where coastal risks are especially evident. These include the case of the New York and New Jersey coasts when Super Storm Sandy hit the area in 2012, and we will revisit New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and consider the ongoing rebuilding and resilience measures there and in nearby Louisiana coastal towns. In addition, we will use two media pieces that examine other U.S. examples, including Miami and the barrier islands of the eastern seaboard.
