2.2.1 Series Resistance

There are two elements connected in series here:

  • Element A-C with resistance R1.
  • Element C-B with resistance R2.
  • The equivalent series resistance between A and B is RAB = R1 + R2.
  • Resistances are additive in series.

Below is another example. What is the equivalent series resistance between A and B?

The answer is:

R AB  = R 1  + R 2  = 10 Ω + 20 Ω = 30 Ω
