There are two elements connected in series here:

- Element A-C with resistance R
_{1}. - Element C-B with resistance R
_{2}. - The equivalent series resistance between A and B is R
_{AB}= R_{1}+ R_{2}. - Resistances are additive in series.

Below is another example. What is the equivalent series resistance between A and B?

The answer is:
