Overview
Congratulations! You're at the home stretch of our course, and thus far, you've made your way through a complex array of topics about renewable energy markets and their various nonmarket conditions. Now, through the step-by-step approach that you've worked through over the past six lessons, you will develop a policy that draws from your research and creates a strategy to improve some aspect of competitive advantage for your renewable energy enterprise.
Recall that policy, as we think of it here in the most general of terms, is really just a set of actionable items based on a given rationale. Policies can be simple, or they can be complex, embedded within, and have interdependencies to other multi-tiered policies. The policy recommendation(s) you will develop will have well-defined targets and be based on evidence and investigation.
For your nonmarket campaigns, you will draw on the knowledge about the social construction of markets to define the fundamental renewable energy market features you wish to engage. You will determine how the market is ordered. And, then, you'll scan for market "imperfections" that provide opportunities for developing targets for your nonmarket campaigns. You will define the boundaries, contexts, resources, and the main targets your campaign will attempt to achieve. Once you have detailed out what your campaigns will need in terms of resources, strengths, and hurdles, you will develop an extensive plan for the implementation and re-evaluation of your overall campaign.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
- synthesize your nonmarket strategy based on your previous assignments; and
- develop your nonmarket policy brief.
