Lessons 7 and 8 cover numerous topics concerning infrastructure for water – drinking water, dams, irrigation, wastewater, and general water demand by human activities. The materials in Microsoft PowerPoint lectures and readings from the text are somewhat blended and overlapping.
In Lesson 7, you will learn about patterns of freshwater use for drinking, dams, irrigation, and industrial enterprises by reviewing the lesson background material below, two Microsoft PowerPoint lectures (7.1 and 7.2), and reading Chapters 8 and 9 of the text. There is a substantial amount of material to cover, so my recommendations for Lesson 7 are somewhat different than for other lessons – focus on the background material below first, then the lectures. Follow that up by getting more background from the text chapters. Use the Microsoft PowerPoint lectures to guide you in studying what terms and concepts to master for the quizzes.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
- describe modern water management systems;
- contrast solutions to water issues from places across the U.S.
