What You'll Learn in GEOG 583

You’ll learn how to approach the complex problem of GIS system analysis and design, focusing on a user-centered process that incorporates the latest technology and methods.

Technologies You'll Use

This course will help students build their design skills in the following ways: understand the role that a needs assessment plays in the design process; analyze different software architectures that are available and how they impact design; consider the suitability of open-source software options in the design process; survey the different programming languages and their strengths and weaknesses; and create interface mock-ups, wire-framing, and prototyping examples.
