Remote Sensing Image Analysis and Applications

One of the main objectives of this course is to enable you to design, develop, and deploy remote sensing workflows to perform tasks, answer questions, and solve problems. To successfully do this, you must have a thorough understanding of the remote sensing analytical process. You must be grounded in remote sensing theory, be comfortable working with a number of geospatial software packages, and use critical and analytical thinking. This lesson essentially starts the class where it will end, executing remote sensing workflows. The lesson culminates with the lab exercise in which you will work through a basic remote sensing workflow.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson you will be able to:

  • describe the basic principles of remote sensing;
  • explain the remote sensing workflow;
  • analyze remotely sensed data using the principles of the remote sensing workflow.
