Solar Energy Integration and Economics
Course Structure: This course is a joint offering from The University of Freiburg and Penn State University. The first lesson provides a global introduction to the topic, an exposition of the solar resource, and an elementary description of how the solar resource is harnessed. The next lessons cover the engineering requirements of Solar PV integration. The last five lessons investigate the financial implications of solar integration.
There will be two exams. One after the third lesson and one after the sixth lesson.
It is also our intent to hold virtual office hours online via Zoom to discuss the content of the course. While these “office hours” will not be graded, we feel they may represent one of the greatest opportunities of the course. Building a cohort of instructors and peers (who are often the same people after a while) is one of the most valuable experiences in any educational opportunity. We will hold these office hours every other Friday starting on May 21 at 1400 GMT+1 or 0800 GMT-5.
