Communicating with your Adviser

This information is repeating what we learned in an earlier lesson, in the Advisers & Advising section. Why? Because it is important. We want to make sure that you understand that we want to hear from you!

Most World Campus degree programs are advised by full-time advisers that counsel students through many different degree programs. As an ESP student, you are advised by ESP faculty, a unique circumstance that provides our students with more one on one attention and more degree specific counseling.

You should take advantage of this perk! Reach out to your adviser regularly, especially if you're struggling in some way. Often we can point you to resources that can help or lend an ear for you to talk through your plans to tackle your latest challenges!

At a very minimum, you should email* your adviser every single semester when scheduling to make sure that the courses you're scheduling fit with your academic plans and will get you to graduation in the most efficient way!

*Penn State policies dictate that advisers are only to correspond with advisees using Penn State email accounts. So get in the habit of checking your Penn State email several times a week, if not daily!

Starfish

At this time, ESP advisers do not routinely use Starfish to schedule appointments or to correspond with ESP advisees.
